Annoyances

9/13/2010

She feels a stinging in her eyes
Beneath the thin membrane patterned with spidery pink
It lies there
Grey
Does the sludge come out like oil from her tear ducts while it accumulates?
Or does it dissolve, become dispersed throughout her body,
Like a toxin,
Does her body break it down and internalize it,
Like an antibody?
She clears it away, pinches the slippery folds until one by one the specks emerge and she flicks them away.
The cutting pain across her irises gone...what traces the residue leaves is a mystery for everyone.
